Hi, I'm Melanie. I’ve always been passionate about creativity. Growing up, I was the kid who loved spending hours crafting or designing my room, was interested in my dad's photography and even took drawing classes.

At the same time, I’ve been very driven to understand more about how the world and the human body work, which led me to study business, business psychology and medicine.

After facing a season of chronic stress and sickness, I realized that true healing doesn’t just come from studies, workouts, striving or modern medicine but from rest —especially rest in God -,  being present, taking care of your needs and expressing who you truly are.

In this season I realized even more how much expressing my creativity is so healing because it reflects sharing the gifts God has given me to bless others. This is the heart behind Måla Livet *capturing moments * creating art *. Through my lens, brush and hands I seek to capture moments that can be treasured forever and create art that speaks of Gods beauty.

Måla Livets Story

Kick Off Drawing

It all began in 2015 when I painted the city I was living in at the time—Lüneburg. I wanted to make my own Christmas cards that year and decided it would be nice to draw the place I lived in winter theme and print postcards from it.

I hung the original painting in my room, and in 2017 a friend who saw it encouraged me to consider selling my art. After hesitation, I took a step of faith and approached a few local cafés to offer my self made postcards. To my surprise, they really liked my art but had already many postcards to sell.

Encouraged by the response, I went on to paint 12 different cityscapes and used them to create my first annual calendar of Lüneburg. It sold so well that I was encouraged to continue to create. Since then, I’ve made new calendars each year, featuring a variety of cities.

To have a platform to present and sell my calendars and postcards I decided to built my own website. This opened up further opportunities, and I soon found myself designing websites for others—psychologists, professionals, and several churches. I quickly realized that a great website also needs great visuals, so I started using my camera more often to support these projects.

One day, a couple from the church I was attending noticed me taking photos and asked if I would be willing to photograph their engagement. I said yes, and thankfully, they were thrilled with the results. They soon asked me to capture their wedding as well, which led to more referrals and opportunities. Before I knew it, I was photographing multiple weddings each year, along with family sessions, engagements, and special moments like pregnancies and newborns.

It’s been a beautiful and unexpected journey—from painting quietly in my room to selling my art and stepping into the world of photography. Every part of this path has taught me more about creativity and the joy of using what’s in my hands to bless others.
